Hamid Karimi obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Michigan State University (MSU) in 2021 (under the supervision of Dr. Jiliang Tang). His main research interest during his Ph.D. was artificial intelligence (AI) for social good and focused on several exciting directions, including AI in education, computational politics, and misinformation detection. Moreover, he was a member of an interdisciplinary project named Teachers in Social Media, where he focused on developing novel and efficient data mining and machine learning algorithms to improve the quality of PK-12 education. Hamid has received several awards, including the best paper award for his paper at IEEE-ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining (ASONAM 2018); Outstanding Graduate Student Service Award (2019); Dissertation Completion Award (2020); and a few others. He was also MSU Graduate Leadership Fellow for 2018 and 2019.
