Assessment
Assessment Plan
Assessment is an on-going process within the department which is highly valued. Significant resources are devoted each year to collect assessment data, and then review that data. Reviews of assessment data are performed to determine the degree to which department goals, such as those defined by the department's Student Outcomes, are being met by our majors. Such data represent a means for continuous program improvement.
Multiple tools and techniques are used in the assessment cycle. The Department's current assessment tools are:

At each department meeting, assessment is a major agenda item. During these meetings, available assessment data are discussed and program changes made as appropriate. At the yearly Fall department retreat, assessment is a central agenda item. It is at this meeting that much of the summarized assessment information is presented, and decisions made as to the changes to make which are perceived to be the most appropriate and potentially beneficial.
Assessment oversight responsibilities for the department rest with the members of the assessment committee (Nicholas Flann, Steven Clyde), and the department head (Dan Watson).
