5/31-6/8: A short course and lab on Computer Vision and Multi-Agent (CVMA) will be taught by three faculty members.
- Study reading materials.
- Solve lab programming assignments.
- Fill out assessment questionnaires concerning the short course on CVMA (end of the first week, and end of the second week).
6/9-6/14: A detailed introduction on each project will be taught by two faculty members. Students will:
- Discuss the background reading assignments with faculty members;
- Decide on two possible research projects that fit their interests;
- Fill out the research assessment form.
6/15-7/29: Implementation of the proposed research project. Students will:
- Attend a weekly group meeting;
- Read research papers related to their assigned research project;
- Write a detailed prospectus of their assigned research project;
- Revise their research plan as needed, based on input received from meetings and discussions;
- Implement their research plan; and
- Participate in social activities in the exciting outdoor environment of Northern Utah and its surroundings.
8/1-8/5: Wrap-up of the research project. Students will:
- Continue working on their individual project;
- Write a comprehensive report describing their projects using the IEEE journal format;
- Give a public presentation on their projects (all REU participants will attend);
- Revise their report based on comments received from attendees;
- Create a CD to document their work;
- Fill out the final oral presentation evaluation form on the presentation day;
- Fill out the research assessment form; and
- Fill out a formal comprehensive evaluation form to assess the REU program.
Each Thursday there will be a joint lunch for REU group members. At the lunch, each REU research group will discuss an item of interest to the group. An informal discussion will follow.
Graduate assistants will supervise the labs from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. M-F.
